Scene Building With Dies and Ink

I really admire the scene builders out there.  It's really not my strong suit, probably because I'm not a huge fan of masking all the things while I'm stamping.  However, a while back I watched a Laura Bassen video and I found a technique that totally works for me and I've been building like crazy ever since.  

My love for ink blending runs deep, and I love me some inky backgrounds.  I also enjoy layering dies to build elements, so when I saw her Sending Love video I knew I'd found the scene building technique for me.  I've built several scenes using this inspiration and these houses are the lastest of my creations.

I used my Distress Oxides to create all of the skies for these cards.  They really blend the best for creating seamless skylines, especially for winter sunsets.  The oxide finish adds to the mood of the card.

 

The two larger houses have Nuvo Glaze in the windows, which is hard to photograph but adds so much depth and interest in real life.  The card below also has Nuvo Glitter Drops as well.

I have used some products that are no longer available, but there are a number of other house and building dies available both at Simon Says Stamp and Scrapbook.com.  There are also a variety of hills and trees to create the perfect scene.
