Scrap Busting - Holiday Tags

If you're like me, then you have a stash of scraps. Scraps in all sizes, shapes, colors, and especially patterns.  I'm terrible about hanging onto even the smallest of patterned paper scraps.  So today, we're talking about making tags for the holidays.  I have six ideas for tags today, all from scraps in my stash.

I started this project by pulling my file of Christmas and Winter paper scraps.  To fill in a few of the gaps I added patterned paper that matched the color scheme for each set of tags.   My goal was to use only scraps for these tags.  I pulled some of my tag dies and began cutting my scraps, sorting them into color schemes as I went.  I also cut enough white to back each tag.  I stamped the back of each tag "to" and "from" and added sting to each to finish them.

Gingerbread men seem to be synonymous with Christmas, so I couldn't help but make a set of tags with them.  For the tags, I used the Pink Fresh Studio Stiched Essentials 1 dies.  I cut the gingerbread men using my Brother Scan and Cut.  The snowflakes are from Taylored Expressions.

Snowflakes on holiday tags are kind of a no-brainer in my mind.  For these, I used the retired die-set Classic Flags from Avery Elle and Simon Says Stamps Rina Snowflake die.  I cut one snowflake from a shimmery cream paper and then two additional flakes from white to build dimension for each snowflake.

Joy seemed a fitting sentiment for holiday gift tags.  I used the Simon Says Stamp Joy Shadow die set, cutting only the word and the same Avery Elle die to create these tags.  The gold paper is a glitter paper that's been in my stash for ages.

An Alaskan gift-giving season wouldn't be complete without a few moose gift tags.  The tags were cut with a Hampton Arts Banner die that's been retired.  I cut the moose with my using my Scan and Cut, and stacked them in threes to add dimension.  Each moose was inked with a bit of Gina K. White pigment ink to create a bit of a frosted look.

No Christmas is complete without Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.  Is it?  These stages use the Avery Elle retired dies again and are paired with the Newton's Nook Splendid Stag Heads dies.  To turn them into Rudolph I added a red gem to the nose.

To complete our holiday tags I pulled out an old Quickutz Snoman die set.  I cut all of the parts from white and used my Copics to color the nose, hat, and scarf.  I used a Copic multi-liner to color the buttons, eyes, and mouth.  I added the snowmen to one more round of tags from the Avery Elle dies.
