Stamping on Patterned Paper to Create Card Elements

This post is a little later than my regular scheduled posting, but I've got a lot going on in my life and the blog seems to always get put in the back seat when things get crazy.  Today's post is a short one, let's jump in.

This is not nor will it be the last post with these fabulous furniture stamps from Altenew.  I've had my eye on these stamps for a while and finally put them in my cart a month ago.  I've been playing with them off and on since.  Today's cards are the first two cards I made using these.  The technique I used to create these simple cards was simply stamping on patterned paper and fussy cutting.  I pulled my scraps out and stamped each chair onto a small pattern that seemed fitting for upholstery.

For the first card, I stamped the chair onto a scrap of striped patterned paper and a small piece of blue that matched the stripes.  Then I stamped the chair on the white panel I would be building my card on and colored only the legs.  I fussy cut the chair, excluding the legs from the striped paper and only the pillow from the blue.  Once I cut them out I used a Momento Tuxedo Black pen to outline the white edge of my pieces.

I adhered the chair over top of the stamped image, lining it up over the legs, then added the pillow to the striped piece in the same way.  I kept it simple when completing the card panel, with a simple sentiment and a bit of a shadow under my chair to ground my image, and trimmed the panel to size using the Simon Says Stamp Wonky Rectangles dies.

For the second card, I did a bit of a rinse-and-repeat.  I selected a small plum patterned paper for this chair and for the sentiment I used one of the Tim Holtz Vintage Label dies.  By using the label die, I was able to create the illusion of wall art on this card. I added the same shadows under my chair and trimmed the panel with Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangle dies.

This is only the beginning.  I also have a couch that will make an appearance soon.  I love these stamps because of their uniqueness.  I see lots of possibilities.
