Inspired by Kelly Taylor - Coffee Cards

I've been watching Kelly's video for somewhere around six years. Kelly is the reason I ended up in the Copic marker cult.  Yes, I said cult, all in jest of course.  I've watched her color amazing scene card after scene card.  Eventually, I drank the cool-aid and bought the markers, but I digress.  We're here to talk about the cards and the inspiration.

Last week Kelly shared the video 3 Cards with 1 Stamp Set and I was inspired to play with my various coffee stamp sets.  I also pulled Copic markers in some similar fall shades.  While I used multiple stamp sets, if you check out Kelly's video you'll see the inspiration shine through.

For the first card, I opted for a horizontal layout.  I started with kraft cardstock and the Tim Holtz Quilted 3D embossing folder.  Once embossed, I lightly ink blended Vintage Photo Distress Ink over the entire panel, then took the Ground Espresso pad and swiped it over the top.  If you use a light hand while swiping the ink pad, the end result will only apply dark ink to the highest points of the embossing.  I used the largest of my stitched rectangle dies to trim the completed panel.

Using the next size down of the stitched rectangles, I cut a white panel from Neenah Bright white.  I stamped the coffee cup and beans from the Technique Tuesday Perk Up stamp set in Gina K Amalgam Ink, which is a Copic-safe ink.  Copic colors used for the coffee cup were V95 as a light underlayer, then V09, and V17 as the shading.  The cup wrap was colored with E42, E49,  and W3, and the lid in W1 and W2.  The beans are small so not much color was needed a touch of E57 on one side of the bean and E49 on the other.  I added some grounding with W3, W2, and W1.  The sentiment is from the Pretty Pink Posh Thoughtful Greetings set and was stamped in VersaFine Black ink.

I stamped a small heart on the cup wrap in VersaMark ink and heat embossed it with gold embossing powder.  This card was completed by adhering the kraft panel onto a white card base, then adding foam tape to the back of the white panel and centering it on the kraft panel.  I added a little shimmer to the cup with a shimmer pen and some clear glaze pen to the beans.

For card number two I opted for a portrait-style card.  Again I started with a kraft panel, then proceeded to do a bit of tone-on-tone stamping using MFT Hot Fudge Hybrid Ink and the Prima Marketing Coffee Stains stamp set from my stash.  I filled in with the large coffee bean stamp from the Technique Tuesday Perk Up set.  Once the panel was stamped, I ink blended the outer edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.  To add a bit more depth I added Ground Espresso Distress Ink to the very edges.

Using the second largest die from the Simon Says Stamp Wonky Rectangles, I cut my white panel.  The same sentiment was stamped slightly off center in the top half and using a bit of masking I  stamped two cups from the Clearly Besotted Warm Solutions set.

My green cup was colored with YG95, YG91, and G99.  I added some details with gold gel pen and clear glaze pen.  The Blue cup was colored with BG93, BG96, BG72, and the polka dots with B99.  I added the same glaze pen over the polka dots.  I added the grounding with W3, W2, and W1.  W1 and W2 were also used to color the steam coming from the cups, with a bit of shimmer pen added.  To fill the cup with coffee I used E57.

With my coloring complete I added the kraft panel to a white card base.  I then backed the white panel with foam tape and centered it over top of the kraft panel.
