Shop Your Stash - Cupcake Birthday Card

In the last few months, I've been resisting the urge to buy new supplies.  I know the horror.  Not only has it been good for my wallet, but it's also been good for my creativity.

I've started shopping my stash and casing Pinterest.  I have a huge inspiration board for card making over there, and I keep adding to it.  The inspiration for this cupcake birthday card came from the thousands of ideas I have over there.  Once I had the idea, I started building the card.

This card started with patterned paper.  Patterned paper is one of those supplies that I have an excess of and have been toward using up, but that's a goal that's gonna take years.  This patterned paper was a 12 x 12 sheet from the stash of scrapbook paper, back when I thought I wanted to make pretty albums.  In an effort to use the mountains of 12 x 12 I've been cutting it down into card panels.  I can generally get six panels out of one sheet.  This means that if I so desire I can make six of the same card design.

Once I had the paper selected I pulled stamps, markers, and dies that would give me a similar layout to the inspiration card.  While the inspiration card used a cupcake die I worked with stamps from Whimsy Stamps and selected a greeting from my collection of Simon Says Stamps stamps.  I use Gina K Amalgam Ink to stamp any image I plan to color with Copic markers and VersaMark Onyx Black is my go-to for sentiments.

The cupcake was colored with Copic markers, and unfortunately, at the time of making this card I wasn't thinking about writing about my process so I have no clue which colors were used in the coloring of this one.  After coloring the cupcake I used Tonic Nuvo Crystal Glaze to fill in the icing and a bit of shimmer pen was applied to the wrapper, the photo does those details no justice.

The style of this card, while layered is still a flat lay card with no dimensional elements.  I've listed the supplies below, when still available, using affiliate links, but I encourage you to shop your stash and use the amazing supplies you have.
