Ink Blending Color Ideas

Hello Lovely.  Today I wanted to talk about ink blending.  If I'm truthful, ink blending really is my favorite technique.  I also have full set syndrome when it comes to Distress Inks and Distress Oxide Inks.  Before you ask, yes I have all the colors that are currently available in both lines and am eagerly awaiting the next release of Oxides.  My Distress Inks are all minis and my Oxides, of course, are full size, as they don't come in mini.

You'll notice in this pic, there is a notebook.  This notebook holds all the magic ink blending recipes I've gleaned from all the ink corners of the digital world.  Of course, I recipes pinned, but when I'm in the groove I opt for the notebook rather than breaking my rhythm, getting sucked into the vortex of the internet and falling through the looking glass into hours of lost time.

When I jot down a "recipe" I often jot a fast note about blending order or direction of the blend, such as blend lightest out to darkest from center.  When I try the combo I add a checkmark in the margin along with a note if it's great for a specific season or type of card. 

Last time I did a post about color combos I just grabbed some strips from my mixed media paper scraps, that I later used on cards.  This go round I just grabs some card panels and started making card fronts.  Later, I'll die cut these to fit the card bases.  For reference, these panels are 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 - inches.  My style is to trim them to be 4 x 5 1/4 -inches or use a large rectangle die to cut the panel and give it a bit of a decorative finish before adding it to a card base.  There a preview of my messy creative mind, let's move to the combos I tried this week.

Blend #1 (top to bottom):  Mermaid Lagon, Salty Ocean, and Cracked Pistachio.

Blend #2 (top to bottom):  Tattered Rose, Scattered Straw, and Wild Honey.

Blend #3 (top to bottom):  Chipped Saphire, Tumbled Glass, and Shabby Shutters.

Blend #4 (top to bottom):  Mustard Seed, Ripe Persimmon, and Festive Berries.

Blend #5 (top to bottom): Candied Apple, Carved Pumpkin, and Mustard Seed.

Blend #6 (top to bottom):  Mermaid Lagoon, Cracked Pistachio, and Twisted Citron.
