Distress Color Comparison - You Are Amazing

Hello Lovely.  In last week's Color Throwdown post I talked about other designs I created using the same color palette.  As promised, are a couple of other cards I created with the same colors.  This post is also a great comparison of blending Distress Inks vs. blending Distress Oxides.

If you follow my blog, you know I've been doing quite a bit of ink blending and stencil masking to create nearly one layer cards.  My original design plan for the Color Throwdown was to do just that, but after creating these two cards with this technique I wasn't happy.  I think it was the color palette that really didn't lend itself to blending as well as I would have liked.  Let's take a closer look at the blending.

The card on the left is Distress Ink in Peacock Feathers, Hickory Smoke, and Worn Lipstick.  I layered on the butterfly mask and then topped it with the Christmas Plaid stencil from Echo Park.  Blended on my ink colors, removed the stencil and added the second layer of ink.  I removed the stencil and the mask and added the sentiment using the That is All stamp set from WPlus9 and my favorite VersaFine Onyx Black ink.

The card on the right is Distress Oxide Ink in Peacock feathers, Hickory Smoke and Worn Lipstick.  I followed the same steps as the first card and was pleasantly surprised by the softer colors I got with the Oxide blend.

Both cards were completed by cutting them with my Stitched Rectangle die from Simon Says Stamp, then mounting each panel onto a black mat before adhering them to soft gray card bases.
