Color Throwdown #505 - Hello

Hello Lovely.  It's time for another Color Throwdown card.  Today's card had many phases before it was completed.  Let's just say this is nowhere near where I started when I played with this color combo.  Maybe I'll do a bonus post this week and to show the other design ideas I went through.  I really love the end result.

For this week's card, I did some ink smooshing with my Distress Oxide Inks.  I used Hickory Smoke, Broken China, and Spun Sugar.  I started by smooshing them on to my Ranger Craft Mat, then spritzed them with water.  I used the standard Tim Holtz technique of dipping the paper in the puddles and drying with the heat gun in between layers.  When I do this technique I almost always use Strathmore Mixed Media Paper rather than watercolor paper, it's just my preferred paper.  Once I had a panel I was happy with I dried it one last time and cut it with my trusty stitched rectangle die from Simon Says Stamp.

I used an MFT tag die to create the white tag and added a gray brad before layering it onto the inked panel.  I cut "Hello" from white cardstock using the small Simon Says Stamp Hello die, inked with Hickory Smoke ink and adhered it to the tag.  I used the Circle Loops die from Simon Says Stamp to cut a couple of circles from pink cardstock and added them to the tag in a way so that they would hang off.  Then I cut a flower using the Sizzix Simple Flowers die, inked it with Hickory Smoke ink, slipped a pale pink brad into the center and added it to complete the tag design.  I matted the panel with matching gray paper and used a gob of foam tape to add the completed panel to a white card base.
